Summer Themes

Well to keep drawing this summer Taylor Clutter and I decided to pick a theme every week to challenge us. We have to create a concept of a character in an environment. This weeks theme was sacred/enchanted grove... mine was enchanted because I forgot that it was sacred..hehe..

Mixed Animals.

Taylor Clutter and I volunteered at Gocio Elementary school for our freshmen year. For the 2nd semester of the school year, we worked with the Art Club painting puzzle pieces. We both had a lot of fun with the children teaching them small techniques about art and they taught us in return on having patients an just have fun with art. As a farewell gift Taylor and I decided to draw pictures for the children. We both did our own pictures of animals, but, not just any animals two animal combined as one. Here are the animals that I drew for them.

SUMMER!!

Well my freshman year ended May 3 and I'm just now announcing it. (hehehehe) That year went by so fast and I learned so much. I would say the first semester was slow for me and I really didn't see much change. But, at the end of the year I saw a lot of improvement and I learned a lot of lesson that will help me become a better artist.
For the summer I will draw as much as I can, hang out with my family by hiking, kayaking, swimming, etc..., and take a summer course at the community college to knock out some classes. Oh ya, also prepare myself for next year. At the end of summer I will post up all my work so I hope everyone has awesome summer and a relaxing one.

Character Walk

My final animation project for my freshman year.

Traditional Animation Sketch book

Character Jump

For my character jump for traditional animation. I had to take the badger I designed and had to have him jump with a reason to jump. So my badger hates all cute things, so he is crushing a flower.

Observational Color

Well I been behind on keep this blog up. Its the end of the semester and I have no more excuses. So here are of few of my paintings I have done in Observational Color. Starting from the oldest to the newest.

This one is suppose to make my view fell like a particular season. It's summer by the way.

This project was to apply theory of color and what colors I observed.

For this project we had to do a posterized monochromatic painting. One of the painting had to show the value scale of black an white and the other with one color.

This one is all about theory of color.

I had to find an analogues within nature and then paint it. My colors are yellow-orange, yellow, and yellow green.

For this one i had to paint complementary colors within a still life

I had to go out and draw silhouettes of objects and design them will thinking what colors to use. The first one is cool colors in the back and warm in the front. While the second one has warm in the back and cools in the front.

I had to pick colors that were equal distance on a color wheel and make a interesting design in a box and the paint them as correct as I could to the colors that were in the box. For my colors I picked Blue-green, yellow- orange, and red-violet.

Finished Character Sheet

After long hours I finished my character sheet. YAY!!!!

Meet Alfanso -so the badger

In his youth he used to be Alfanso the sexy badger but now in his old age he is just so-so. That doesn't sit well with him so the world must must suffer for his so-so-ness.
Hehe I love him my ill-tempered badger. He was a blast to design and figure out. Now lets see how well he looks animated. ( animation coming soon )

Spring Break

For spring break I stayed on campus cause I couldn't afford to go home. So I went on a sketch crawl with really fun people, work on my character design, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

The sketch crawl was a blast. Just sit there in a big group and draw the same person. At times I felt the person we were drawing got really uncomfortable.

Spring Break Cont.

My homework over spring break was to design the character I was given. So I had to do 100 silhouettes of a badger. The motive was to make each individual badger different from the last. So I can break out of the generic design of a badger and come up with something different. It was enjoyable to make the badger in different shapes. A long process but fun.

Spring Break Cont.

For Habitat for Humanity a few of my friends and I helped clean up a wall that's in bad shape and help prep a house for a family in need by sodding the backyard and front yard and cleaning up the home.
What I did was help the neighborhood by cleaning up this beat up, graffitied, dirty wall by washing it down, patching up the holes, and giving it a new paint job.

Before the clean up

During the painting

After all the hard work

It felt great to help out even in a little way like painting a beat up wall. The community was appreciative for the hard work we did by thanking us as the drove by or even giving us cokes or treats. It was a whole sum feeling that I was doing something that made them happy. It not about the praise or the treats, it was about the relief and high spirits these people got when they saw a simple wall being cleaned up.

Final Flour Sack

Unknown Reflection from Ashley Graham on Vimeo

Here is my 2nd flour sack jump. My sack see its reflection in a mirror but doesn't know know its his reflection and thinks its another sack mocking him. I feel there are a few jittery moments. But, all in all I wanted to try something hard and I think I pulled it off.

1st Flour sack

I finally got to animate a flour sack jump. Yay! It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed working on it. I finished it in 3 days with X amount of hours (I really don't remember how many hrs). All I hope now is that I get a good grade.

Monster Ball

Monster ball from Ashley Graham on Vimeo.

My final ball bounce of the year (hopefully). The objective of this animation is that the ball has to hit an object and change direction. The ball hits the door and opens it and a surprise pops out. Enjoy.

Shaman

Here is my Shaman. I have been working on it since school started and I finally finished it today. Its my first digital Painting I have done fully. I also sketched it out all in war paint. Enjoy...

2nd Semseter

So far 2nd semester has been a growth period. I feel like my art has gotten a little more expressive and looser. I had a little bit of a ruff start in the beginning but your not learning unless you get a little frustrated at yourself. Right now with my animation, even my sketches, I feel like they have shown great progression. I just hope I keep climbing.

I Finally got to work on my first animation ever yesterday of a bouncing balling. I enjoyed making something move for the first time way to much. I know I will defiantly enjoy this class and I can't wait to work on more. :3
